Irobot wins $29 mil­lion US Navy ro­bot or­der


iRobot Corp., Bed­ford, Mas­sachusetts, is be­ing awarded a $2,87,76,935 mod­i­fi­ca­tion to pre­vi­ously awarded con­tract for the pro­cure­ment of Man Trans­portable Robotic Sys­tem pro­duc­tion sys­tems, de­pot level re­pair parts, spare kits, de­pot re­pair ser­vices, parts sup­ply, train­ing, en­gi­neer­ing en­hance­ments, con­fig­u­ra­tion man­age­ment and ap­proved ac­ces­sories.

The man Trans­portable Robotic Sys­tem is a small robotic ve­hi­cle used by Ex­plo­sive Ord­nance Dis­posal tech­ni­cians to con­duct re­mote re­con­nais­sance, ren­der safe, and/or dis­pose of ex­plo­sive de­vices.

Work will be per­formed in Bed­ford and is ex­pected to be com­pleted by April 2014. No fund­ing will be ob­li­gated at the time of the award. Fis­cal 2013 Op­er­a­tions and Main­te­nance, Navy and Op­er­a­tions and Main­te­nance, Army con­tract funds will not ex­pire at the end of the cur­rent fis­cal year.

The Naval Sur­face War­fare Cen­tre, In­dian Head Di­vi­sion, In­dian Head, Mary­land, is the con­tract­ing ac­tiv­ity.
