HAL, Sagem to co­op­er­ate


Bol­ster­ing ex­ist­ing co­op­er­a­tion with the Safran group, which in­cludes sev­eral ar­eas, the Hin­dus­tan Aero­nau­tics Limited (HAL) has en­tered into con­tract with Safran group com­pany Sagem to set up man­u­fac­tur­ing and de­pot level main­te­nance fa­cil­i­ties for au­to­matic flight con­trol sys­tem (AFCS) line re­place­able units (LRUs) in­clud­ing sen­sors at HAL, Hyderabad to­wards in-house man­u­fac­ture and de­pot level main­te­nance of AFCS and LRUs for the ALH Dhruv and HJT-36 Sitara in­ter­me­di­ate jet trainer pro­grammes.

“The pos­si­bil­ity of fit­ting AFCS LRUs on LCH and LUH plat­forms is be­ing ex­plored. The fa­cil­i­ties at Hyderabad are ex­pected to be es­tab­lished in two years to cater to the In­dian cus­tomers,” said HAL in a state­ment. Other ar­eas of co­op­er­a­tion be­tween HAL and Safran in­clude the Tur­bomeca Shakti engine for the Dhruv and light util­ity he­li­copter, tech­nol­ogy in the Mi­rage 2000 up­grade pro­gramme, and fu­ture co­op­er­a­tion on the Rafale pro­gramme.
