IAF gets fourth Boe­ing C-17 Globe­mas­ter III

The In­dian Air Force (IAF) has re­ceived its fourth of 10 Boe­ing C-17 Globe­mas­ter III heavy-lift trans­ports, join­ing the first three al­ready op­er­a­tional at the 81 Squadron ‘Sky­lords’ at Hin­don air­base on Delhi’s out­skirts. The C-17 re­cently per­formed hu­man­i­tar­ian mis­sions dur­ing the prepa­ra­tions for cy­clone Phailin that struck In­dia’s east coast. “Boe­ing will com­plete pro­duc­tion of the C-17 Globe­mas­ter III in the fourth quar­ter of 2015. In ad­di­tion to the re­main­ing C-17s for In­dia, the com­pany will build 15 more for other cus­tomers out­side the United States. Boe­ing will con­tinue af­ter-de­liv­ery sup­port of the world­wide C-17 fleet as part of the C-17 Globe­mas­ter III In­te­grated Sus­tain­ment Pro­gram Per­for­mance-Based Lo­gis­tics agree­ment,” the com­pany said in a state­ment.
