AMC an­nounces ‘ini­tial op­er­a­tional ca­pa­bil­ity’ mile­stone for up­graded C-5 aicraft

The US Air Mo­bil­ity Com­mand of­fi­cials have an­nounced the ini­tial op­er­a­tional ca­pa­bil­ity mile­stone for the C-5M Su­per Galaxy air­craft. IOC was achieved for up­graded C-5M air­craft af­ter suc­cess­ful qual­i­fi­ca­tion test, op­er­a­tional test and eval­u­a­tion and de­liv­ery of the 16th C-5M air­craft with trained air­crew and main­te­nance per­son­nel now at Dover Air Force Base, Deleware.

The C-5M Su­per Galaxy is one of the largest air­craft in the world and the largest air­lifter in the US Air Force in­ven­tory. Air Force C-5 air­craft deliver life-sav­ing equip­ment, sup­plies and cargo and pro­vide out­sized cargo ca­pa­bil­ity nec­es­sary for Mo­bil­ity Air Force to sup­port con­tin­gency and hu­man­i­tar­ian op­er­a­tions world­wide.
