In­ter-state Joint Force to tackle Maoist at­tacks


Dur­ing the cur­rent year (upto July 11, 2014) 620 in­ci­dents of left wing ex­trem­ist (LWE) vi­o­lence took place which re­sulted in ca­su­al­ties of 61 Se­cu­rity Forces per­son­nel and 127 civil­ians. The Union Govern­ment de­ploys Cen­tral Armed Po­lice Forces (CAPFs) in the LWE af­fected states to as­sist the State Po­lice in counter-in­sur­gency. The State Po­lice un­der­takes anti-Naxal op­er­a­tions along with Cen­tral Armed Po­lice Forces and also car­ries out joint op­er­a­tions with the State Po­lice of the bor­der­ing States, as and when re­quired and de­pend­ing upon the ground sit­u­a­tion. Per-se, no sep­a­rate In­ter-State Joint Force ex­ists to un­der­take an­tiNaxal op­er­a­tions.
