Port se­cu­rity mea­sures

The Cen­tral Gov­ern­ment is re­spon­si­ble for the se­cu­rity of 12 Ma­jor Ports in the coun­try, in­clud­ing Kandla Port in Gu­jarat. The se­cu­rity of 203 non-ma­jor (mi­nor) ports lies with the state gov­ern­ment/Union Ter­ri­tory Ad­min­is­tra­tion con­cerned. All the 12 ma­jor ports in the coun­try are guarded by the Cen­tral In­dus­trial Se­cu­rity Force (CISF).

The se­cu­rity ar­range­ments of Ports in­clud­ing Kandla Port in Gu­jarat, where CISF is de­ployed, are re­viewed from time to time with ref­er­ence to re­quire­ment of man­power, gad­getry and other equip­ments to en­sure high­est stan­dards of se­cu­rity. Ports guarded by CISF are suf­fi­ciently equipped with au­tho­rised weapons and equip­ments, stated the Min­is­ter of State for Home, Kiren Ri­jiju.
