BSF briefs Home Min­is­ter on sit­u­a­tion in Jammu & Kashmir


The Union Home Min­is­ter Ra­j­nath Singh was briefed by the Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Bor­der Se­cu­rity Force Deven­dra Kumar Pathak re­cently on the ground sit­u­a­tion in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Pathak in­formed about the dam­age to as­sets of BSF as well as some dam­age caused to the civil­ians liv­ing close to the in­ter­na­tional bor­der. The Home Min­is­ter was ap­prised of the deaths and in­juries caused to the BSF and the civil­ians in the area. Ra­j­nath Singh in­quired about the morale of the forces de­ployed in the ar­eas af­fected by Pak shelling. The Home Min­is­ter was in­formed that the morale of the forces was very high. It was fur­ther in­formed that the of­fi­cers of BSF are in po­si­tion on the ground along with the troops who are con­stantly be­ing guided and su­per­vised by the of­fi­cers.

Ra­j­nath Singh ap­pre­ci­ated the ef­forts of the BSF in tack­ling the sit­u­a­tion and as­sured full as­sis­tance of re­sources to the DG, BSF for tak­ing ap­pro­pri­ate ac­tion on the bor­der. DG, BSF had vis­ited the area on Au­gust 26, 2014, to take stock of the sit­u­a­tion and to plan out fur­ther course of ac­tion.

Ra­j­nath Singh ex­pressed his sat­is­fac­tion on In­dia-Bangladesh bor­der sit­u­a­tion as the two bor­der forces are tak­ing nec­es­sary con­fi­dence-build­ing mea­sures and are car­ry­ing out joint pa­trolling along the bor­der. He men­tioned that the two coun­tries en­joy cor­dial re­la­tions and should con­tinue mu­tual di­a­logue for strength­en­ing bi­lat­eral re­la­tions.
