Visit of Com­man­der of Sri Lanka Navy Vice Ad­mi­ral Jayan­tha Per­era

Vice Ad­mi­ral Jayan­tha Per­era, Com­man­der of the Sri Lanka Navy, was on an of­fi­cial visit to In­dia from Oc­to­ber 26 to 30. The vis­it­ing Chief was ac­corded a Guard of Hon­our on his ar­rival at the South Block. He there­after called on the Chief of Naval Staff Ad­mi­ral R.K. Dhowan and also met the of­fi­cers in the Min­istry of De­fence and the Na­tional Se­cu­rity Ad­viser.

He also trav­elled to the Head­quar­ters East­ern and South­ern Naval Com­mands and visit var­i­ous train­ing and op­er­a­tional fa­cil­i­ties at Visakha­p­at­nam and Kochi.

In­dian and Sri Lankan navies have been co­op­er­at­ing reg­u­larly to en­sure mar­itime se­cu­rity and good or­der at sea. The co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two navies cov­ers a wide spec­trum of ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing train­ing, op­er­a­tions, hy­drog­ra­phy, ma­te­rial and lo­gis­tics and also in­for­ma­tion shar­ing for mar­itime do­main aware­ness.

The Sri Lankan naval chief’s visit gave an op­por­tu­nity to re­view and fur­ther strengthen navy-to-navy co­op­er­a­tion.
