Mys­te­ri­ous dis­ap­pear­ance of MH-370

The dis­ap­pear­ance of Malaysia Air­lines flight MH-370–over the south­ern In­dian Ocean on March 7, 2014, re­mains a mys­tery. The search con­tin­ues for the wreck of the plane, with no suc­cess yet. The air­craft, a Boe­ing 777-200ER, was car­ry­ing 12 Malaysian crew mem­bers and 227 pas­sen­gers from 15 na­tions. The air­craft dis­ap­peared from air traf­fic con­trollers’ radar screens at 0121 MYT. Malaysian mil­i­tary radar con­tin­ued to track Flight 370 as it de­vi­ated from its planned flight path and crossed the Malay Penin­sula; Flight 370 left the range of Malaysian mil­i­tary radar at 0215 MYT while over the An­daman Sea, 200 nau­ti­cal miles (370 km) north-west of Pe­nang in north-western Malaysia. Nei­ther the crew nor the air­craft’s com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tems re­layed a dis­tress sig­nal, in­di­ca­tions of bad weather, or tech­ni­cal prob­lems be­fore the air­craft van­ished.
