Krauss-Maf­feiWeg­mann takes over ve­hi­cle business of Diehl De­fence


On De­cem­ber 17, 2014, Diehl De­fence and Krauss-Maf­feiWeg­mann (KMW) con­cluded a con­tract on the ac­qui­si­tion of Diehl De­fence Land Sys­tem´s GmbH (DLS) oper­a­tive busi- ness by a sub­sidiary of KMW. The con­tract is sub­ject to ap­proval by the anti-trust au­thor­i­ties.

Diehl De­fence Land Sys­tems is a mar­ket leader in the fields of tank tracks and sus­pen­sions equip­ping all the Bun­deswehr’s tracked ve­hi­cles. Lat­est in­no­va­tions in­clude light­weight tracks for the Ger­man in­fantry com­bat ve­hi­cle PUMA as well as seg­mented rub­ber band tracks. In the past decades, the company has ac­quired an in­ter­na­tional rep­u­ta­tion as a ser­vice provider re­gard­ing main­te­nance, re­pair and mod­erni­sa­tion of mil­i­tary ve­hi­cles. The company achieves sales of 56 mil­lion euros with ap­prox­i­mately 370 em­ploy­ees.

With the trans­fer­ral of its ve­hi­cle business, Diehl is con­tribut­ing to the con­sol­i­da­tion of the Ger­man land sys­tems in­dus­try. The company will in­creas­ingly fo­cus on its core business com­pris­ing guided weapons, in­tel­li­gent am­mu­ni­tion as well as im­pact and pro­tec­tion.
