Air Mar­shal Jasjit Singh Kler new DG(I&S), In­dian Air Force


Air Mar­shal Jasjit Singh Kler who is ap­pointed Direc­tor Gen­eral (In­spec­tion and Safety) was com­mis­sioned into the He­li­copter stream of the IAF on De­cem­ber 13, 1980.

The Air Mar­shal is a qual­i­fied fly­ing in­struc­tor. He has flown close to 8,000 hrs on var­i­ous he­li­copters, fly­ing mostly in Si­achen Glacier and Eastern Sec­tor. He has flown most types of he­li­copters in the IAF in­ven­tory, i.e., Chee­tah, Chetak, Mi-8s, Mi17s and the Mi-17 IVs.

The Air Mar­shal has held var­i­ous com­mand and staff ap­point­ments which in­clude Se­nior Air and Ad­min­is­tra­tive Staff Of­fi­cer (SAASO) of Main­te­nance Com­mand, Deputy Com­man­dant of Air Force Academy, Air Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing of Air Force Sta­tion New Delhi, Sta­tion Com­man­der of Air Force Sta­tion Jammu, Air Force Sta­tion Salua and Com­mand of a Mi-17 He­li­copter Unit. He also was posted to Namibia to raise and train the Namib­ian He­li­copter el­e­ment. Prior to his present ap­point­ment, he was IG (Air), BSF Air Wing, the Min­istry of Home Af­fairs.

The Air Mar­shal is an alum­nus of Col­lege of De­fence Man­age­ment and Na­tional De­fence Col­lege, Bangladesh. He holds a de­gree in MBA as well as a Mas­ter’s de­gree in Public Ad­min­is­tra­tion from the In­dian In­sti­tute of Public Ad­min­is­tra­tion. For his dis­tin­guished ser­vice, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (VM) in 2001.
