Raytheon ac­quires Tucson-based Sensin­tel Inc

Raytheon Com­pany has ac­quired pri­vately-held Sensinte Inc a lead­ing provider of un­manned air­craft sys­tems (UAS) so­lu­tions to the in­tel­li­gence and spe­cial op­er­a­tions mar­kets. “Sensin­tel’s ex­per­tise in un­manned air­craft sys­tems so­lu­tions makes it a nat­u­ral fit with Raytheon’s Ad­vanced Mis­sile Sys­tems prod­uct line,” said Dr. Tay­lor W. Lawrence, Raytheon Mis­sile Sys­tems Pres­i­dent. “The ac­qui­si­tion of Sensin­tel en­hances the growth prospects of our UAS busi­ness and the ad­vanced ca­pa­bil­i­ties we can of­fer our cus­tomers.” un­manned sub­mersibles is a nat­u­ral ex­ten­sion of the sub­ma­rine work we do at New­port News Ship­build­ing,” said Matt Mul­herin, HII Cor­po­rate Vice Pres­i­dent and New­port News Ship­build­ing Pres­i­dent. “We be­lieve the com­bi­na­tion of New­port News and ESD ex­per­tise will en­able us to com­pete suc­cess­fully in the un­manned un­der­wa­ter ve­hi­cle mar­ket, and we are ex­cited to wel­come ESD to our team.”

ESD will op­er­ate as Un­der­sea So­lu­tions Group, a sub­sidiary of HII, and will re­port to New­port News Ship­build­ing’s Sub­ma­rine and Fleet Sup­port Di­vi­sion.
