The In­ter­na­tional Yoga Day was cel­e­brated at var­i­ous Air Force and Army es­tab­lish­ments in Shil­long and North East re­gion. At Head­quar­ters Eastern Air Com­mand, Air Force Shil­long. Air Mar­shal S.B. Deo, Air Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing-in-Chief, Eastern Air Com­mand, In­dian Air Force, was present on this oc­ca­sion.

The Na­tional Cadet Corps (NCC), the premier youth or­gan­i­sa­tion of the na­tion, cre­ated a record for the largest yoga per­for­mance si­mul­ta­ne­ously by a sin­gle uni­formed youth or­gan­i­sa­tion at mul­ti­ple venues on June 21. The cadets per­formed the asanas as per the pro­to­col given by the Min­istry of Ayush from 7.00 a.m. to 7.35 a.m. at all venues. The per­for­mance of yoga by NCC cadets on In­ter­na­tional Day of Yoga was pan In­dia at more then 1,460 venues, in­clud­ing Leh in the North, Dwaraka in the West, Tezu (Arunachal Pradesh) in the East, Na­gar­coil (Kanyaku­mari) in the South and in the is­lands of An­daman and Ni­co­bar and Lak­shad­weep. Un­der the aegis of NCC Di­rec­torate North-eastern re­gion Shil­long, more than 56,000 cadets par­tic­i­pated at 169 venues across the en­tire North-eastern re­gion.
