In­done­sian arms maker Pin­dad signs deal with UAE

Of­fi­cials from In­done­sia’s state arms man­u­fac­turer Pin­dad and the United Arab Emi­rates have signed a de­fence agree­ment that could open up a world of op­por­tu­nity in terms of weapons deals and tech­nol­ogy ex­change. The agree­ment was signed by Pin­dad and an Abu Dhabi-based lo­gis­ti­cal and mis­sion sup­port com­pany Con­ti­nen­tal Avi­a­tion Ser­vices (CAS).

For­eign Min­is­ter Retno Mar­sudi said in a state­ment that the mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing in­cludes a li­cens­ing col­lab­o­ra­tion for Pin­dad’s SS2 as­sault ri­fle and a deal to sell Pin­dad am­mu­ni­tion in the Mid­dle East.

Mean­while, CAS has agreed to co­op­er­ate with Pin­dad in shar­ing the tech­nol­ogy of a re­mote weapon sta­tion (RWS) it is cur­rently de­vel­op­ing with Rhein­metall Canada.
