Vice Ad­mi­ral Girish Luthra takes over Western Naval Com­mand


Vice Ad­mi­ral A.R. Karve, AVSM, took over charge as the Flag Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing-in-Chief of the South­ern Naval Com­mand (SNC) from Vice Ad­mi­ral Girish Luthra, AVSM, VSM, on May 29, 2016. An im­pres­sive cer­e­mo­nial pa­rade was held at the naval base on the oc­ca­sion which was fol­lowed by the tra­di­tional ‘Pulling Out’ cer­e­mony in which the out­go­ing Com­man­der-in-Chief Vice Ad­mi­ral Girish Luthra was cer­e­mo­ni­ally pulled out in a jeep by Flag Of­fi­cers and Com­mand­ing Of­fi­cers of ships and naval es­tab­lish­ments of Kochi, amidst emo­tional ‘Jai’, ‘Jai’ by the men of SNC.

Vice Ad­mi­ral Girish Luthra took over the reins of Western Naval Com­mand as Flag Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing-in-Chief on May 31, 2016 from Vice Ad­mi­ral Su­nil Lanba at a cer­e­mo­nial pa­rade held at INS Shikra. Later in the day, of­fi­cers of the Western Naval Com­mand ac­corded Vice Ad­mi­ral Lanba a warm send off, with the tra­di­tional ‘Pulling Out’ cer­e­mony.
