F-35C COMPLETES FIRST NIGHT FLIGHT ABOARD AIRCRAFT CARRIER
The F-35C Lightning II carrier variant Joint Strike Fighter conducted its first carrierbased night flight operations aboard aircraft carrier USS Nimitz off the coast of San Diego. The test flying was conducted in a series of planned touch and goes before making an arrested landing. The night flight was part of Development Testing I (DT-I) for the F-35C, which commenced on November 3 and is expected to last two weeks. The Nimitz is hosting the F-35 Lightning II Pax River Integrated Test Force from Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 during the initial sea trials of the F-35C.
