ARJUN KAPOOR candidly confesses to Sumita Chakraborty that he loves being an actor and more.

Stardust (English) - - COVER STORY -

You did a double role for the second time in your career. Why? It is so difficult to explain the film ( Mubarakan). You have to live it. It’s the most unique double role you will ever see. It is more out of the fact that there is a character that is Anil chachu, he has a brother and sister. And he has an elder brother. Now what happens is his twins are left behind after an incident of course and they need to be taken care of. So, Anil chachu gives one of the twins (that’s me) each to Ratna Pathak Shah and Pawan Malhotra. We grow up in different parts of the world and become cousins. One grows up to be a Sardar and one, Mona Sardar. To he kc ha ch ab hatij ab anja ta ha ia urek ma ma bh an jab anja ta hai. So, it’s sheer madness and a laugh-a-thon. Do you think this is your best role till date? Getting a role like this is indeed a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity. Yes, when Anil chachu heard the script he immediately called me up. But that’s destiny na? The roles could have been offered to anybody else or gone to some one else. These are moments in your life where you cannot pinpoint why an opportunity has come to you. But when it does, you just grab it.

Does Anil Kapoor do this often – recommend a role to you? He’s never picked up the phone and called me to recommend me before – not for work as far as I am concerned. But for the first time, he told me that ‘I think you should hear the script - I think you can do it’. He’s never ever gone into that space with me... He’s saved it to a point where he genuinely felt I suited the role. This is the first and only time he’s done this - when he felt that there was any value to the role. I am very certain that if he was an actor, he would be looking at a role like this and would want to do it. He’s done Kishen Kanhaiya. He knows the power of these films which connect, he’s worked with Aneez Bazmee before. That’s why I grabbed the opportunity. When the correct person at the correct time gives you the correct advice, you have to take it! And I did!

How has the journey as an actor been so far? The journey has been beautiful. I love being an actor. Aisa nahi hain ke picture sign karne ke baad set pe aake lagta hai ki mushkil hone wala hai. Subah uthke mazaa aata hain ki main shoot pe jaa raha hun.
