FAST FORWARD

Stardust (English) - - MOVIE MAIL BAG -

The story of her life has been nothing less than a chatpata Bollywood film. A young girl, hailing from a filmi family, who’s has had a troubled childhood to beginning her quest for finding her own self, Pooja Bhatt has seen it all. All of 17, a soulsearching teenager, she debuted with her papa Mahesh Bhatt’s home production Daddy in 1989 and this talented young nymphet didn’t get a chance to look back post her hit film Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi in 1991. Delivering a string of hits like Sadak, Tamanna, Zakhm, she also went on to win a National Award for her impeccable acting skills. The alluring beauty chose to rise above the emotional struggle she had to face initially to evolve as an actor, producer and eventually director and shine rather than merely being daddy’s princess and living off his fame. And what makes this pretty lass stand out is the fact that she has always called a spade a spade, be it her work, the list of men she’s dated to her separation from her husband Munish Makhija to alcoholism and her personal equations with people, she has grown and, how! As she completes 29 years in Bollywood this year, this stunning damsel is expected to return to the silver screen after a brief sabbatical with the remake of her hit film Sadak 2. And we can only wait and watch whether her comeback will make us applaud or will it be a dud at the Box office. Only time will tell! Words: Sharbani Mukherjee
