In­dia: TANTU’s 5th edi­tion to em­pha­size on Per­for­mance Tex­tiles

The fifth edi­tion of TANTU will dis­cuss on “Per­for­mance Tex­tiles: Ath­leisure and Ac­tive Sports­wear” on 16th Septem­ber at In­dia In­ter­na­tional Cen­tre, New Delhi (In­dia). Among many in­ter­na­tional brands, a num­ber of In­dian start-up ath­leisure brands have sprung up in the mar­ket to cater to domestic needs. The seminar will ad­dress In­dia’s pre­pared­ness in the ath­leisure seg­ment and the prob­a­ble chal­lenges.

Na­tional and in­ter­na­tional ex­perts will hold panel dis­cus­sions on “Man­u­fac­tur­ing Chal­lenges” and “Mar­kets and Op­por­tu­ni­ties”. The par­tic­i­pants’ list in­cludes names like Harki­rat Singh of Wood­lands, Roshan Baid of Al­cis, Mo­hit Sing­hal of Aurro, Bi­jesh Todi of T10 Sports, and ex­perts from De­cathlon, Shiv Naresh, Re­liance Per­for­max, Wild­craft and many oth­ers.

Dr. Pra­bir Jana, Seminar Chair­man and Pres­i­dent, TANTU says, “The seminar will be a con­gre­ga­tion of ex­perts and prac­ti­tion­ers of ath­leisure and ac­tive sports­wear do­main. The brands, the man­u­fac­tur­ers, the tech­nol­ogy providers, the fab­ric and ac­ces­sories sup­pli­ers will join to­gether to dis­cuss the strengths, weak­nesses, op­por­tu­ni­ties and threats in man­u­fac­tur­ing and mar­ket­ing do­main. The de­lib­er­a­tions of the ex­perts will share and solve the prob­lems and fa­cil­i­tate the newly cre­ated yet high growth seg­ment to es­tab­lish as In­dia’s strength.”

The mil­len­ni­als of to­day are in­clined to­wards out­door leisure ac­tiv­i­ties which have led to growth in con­sump­tion of man­u­fac­tur­ing of ac­tivewear. Ac­cord­ing to re­search by Mor­gan Stan­ley, the ath­leisure sec­tor has seen a huge in­crease of 42 per cent over the last seven years, and is now worth over US $ 270 bil­lion glob­ally. Not only that, ath­leisure is also pre­dicted to grow an­other 30 per cent by 2020, es­pe­cially in Asia and the US.

The in­creased in­ter­est of fe­males in sports and out­door ac­tiv­i­ties is a ma­jor fac­tor of growth for sports­wear and ath­leisure wear. The per­for­mance sports ap­parel mar­ket is ex­pected to gen­er­ate rev­enue of US $ 184.6 bil­lion by 2020, grow­ing at a CAGR of 4.3 per cent dur­ing 2015-2020.
