India: TANTU’s 5th edition to emphasize on Performance Textiles
The fifth edition of TANTU will discuss on “Performance Textiles: Athleisure and Active Sportswear” on 16th September at India International Centre, New Delhi (India). Among many international brands, a number of Indian start-up athleisure brands have sprung up in the market to cater to domestic needs. The seminar will address India’s preparedness in the athleisure segment and the probable challenges.
National and international experts will hold panel discussions on “Manufacturing Challenges” and “Markets and Opportunities”. The participants’ list includes names like Harkirat Singh of Woodlands, Roshan Baid of Alcis, Mohit Singhal of Aurro, Bijesh Todi of T10 Sports, and experts from Decathlon, Shiv Naresh, Reliance Performax, Wildcraft and many others.

The millennials of today are inclined towards outdoor leisure activities which have led to growth in consumption of manufacturing of activewear. According to research by Morgan Stanley, the athleisure sector has seen a huge increase of 42 per cent over the last seven years, and is now worth over US $ 270 billion globally. Not only that, athleisure is also predicted to grow another 30 per cent by 2020, especially in Asia and the US.
The increased interest of females in sports and outdoor activities is a major factor of growth for sportswear and athleisure wear. The performance sports apparel market is expected to generate revenue of US $ 184.6 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 4.3 per cent during 2015-2020.
