India: National and international experts to grace TANTU Seminar on September 16
The fifth edition of TANTU Seminar is to be held on 16th September 2017 at India International Centre in New Delhi. With most of the international brands already penetrating the Indian market, there are some Indian brands which are actively coming up in the athleisure segment. This year’s TANTU will discuss the challenges and India’s preparedness for this segment.
Bijesh Todi, Managing Director, T10 Sports said, “Athleisure and active sportswear are the areas which are currently predominated by 3- 4 big international brands in India. However, with the increase in demand for sportswear even among middle and lower middleclass economy, there is a huge potential for home grown brands in this segment with better pricing, affordability and value for money. It will be interesting to see how these smaller new home- grown brands find their individual spaces (with their own USPs and market segmentation) among the already existing international brands.”
The highlight of the event will be panel discussion on “Manufacturing Challenges” and “Markets and Opportunities”. The performance sports apparel market is expected to generate revenue of US $ 184.6 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 4.3 per cent during 2015-2020. According to Euromonitor report of 2015-16, the Indian sportswear market grew by 22 per cent, outpacing the segment's global increase of 7 per cent. By 2020, it is expected to grow an additional 12 per cent CAGR with sales expected to reach US $ 8 billion. By 2018, Asia- Pacific would emerge as the largest sports apparel market.
