Man from Tamil Nadu hacked in Vizag dis­trict

A per­son from Tamil Nadu was hacked to death in broad day­light near Nakka­palli Toll Plaza in Visakha­p­at­nam dis­trict by a seven-mem­ber gang of as­sailants on Satur­day. Po­lice, with the help of lo­cals, caught four of them and are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the rea­sons be­hind the killing.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the de­ceased was iden­ti­fied as Nee­lamegha Amaran of Madu­rai based on the the iden­tity card that was ob­tained from the de­ceased. As Amaran stopped his car near the toll plaza, a group of per­sons who came in a SUV that stopped be­hind the ve­hi­cle came to him and at­tacked him with lethal weapons, ini­tial re­ports said.

The at­tack­ers later fled in the SUV. Alerted by lo­cals, po­lice tracked down the ve­hi­cle and chased it as it moved to­wards Ye­la­man­chili on the na­tional high­way. As the ve­hi­cle reached near Ye­la­man­chili, the at­tack­ers aban­doned the ve­hi­cle on the road­side and fled into the vil­lage nearby.

Po­lice, with the help of res­i­dents of the vil­lage, could nab four of the ac­cused while three oth­ers man­aged to flee.

In the pre­lim­i­nar­ily in­quiry, po­lice came to know that the vic­tim and the at­tack­ers be­long to Madu­rai area of Tamil Nadu.

The po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the rea­sons be­hind the mur­der of Amaran.
