If I am Siddu Khan then BSY must be Yeddi Khan: Former CM

Sunday Express - - TAMIL NADU / SOUTH -

“IF I am Siddu Khan then Yeddyurappa who also celebrated Tipu Jayanti must be Yeddi Khan,” shot back former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Reacting sharply against BJP spokesperson G Madhusudhan calling him ‘Siddu Khan’, he defended Tipu Jayanti celebrations started by the previous government headed by him.

He said former chief minister Jagadish Shettar wrote a preface to book on Tipu Sultan authoured by former vice-chancellor Prof B Sheikh Ali. While, former ministers R Ashok, and Sriramulu and MP P C Mohan were seen wearing Tipu turbans, what name will the BJP give them, he asked.

Refuting MP Nalinkumar Kateel’s conversion remark, Siddaramaiah said people with inhuman qualities are the ones who indulge in conversion.

Accusing that the BJP is known for double-strandard in opposing to other religions, he took exception for alleging Tipu as anti-Hindu and anti-Kannada and defended his government starting 13 Jayantis.

Siddaramaiah said the opposition party lacks knowledge on Tipu’s contribution and should respect his patronage to temples and Mutts.
