Lenovo Yoga 720
For some reason the name always cracks me up.
Sure, it’s a bit cheesy but makes sense when you think about it. A convertible that can bend at angles resembling yoga poses! It might look like any other hybrid in the market but Lenovo is one of the very few to be bringing decent hardware at affordable pricing.
Still, it doesn’t look half bad.
Agreed. The look is quite classy and subtle and it’s all down to the aluminium chassis with a silver trim. Notice how those black bezels surrounding the screen give it the look of a smartphone. The 360 hinges allow the screen to be rotated in various ways. Be careful of where you keep it in Cinema mode though, because the keyboard and trackpad are left exposed.
What would be a safer way to use it?
Why, Tent mode of course. It serves almost the same purpose as Cinema mode but offers more protection from any accidental spills, although the hinge is too stiff to be opened by one hand. An acceptable trade-off, as Lenovo has done a good job of keeping flex to a minimum.
That’s good but how would I go about keeping my files secure?
The small square situated below the End key is the fingerprint reader working as intended unlike the older models with their strange placement. Users can very easily scan their fingerprint regardless of device orientation. Now no more having to type out a pin code. Just swipe and get back into the action!
Feels like it would be sparse on ports.
This is the trade-off you get when you opt for a lightweight and portable device. There is a single USB 3.0 port on the right side near the power button. On the left are two USB-C 3.0 ports, the mic and 3.5mm headphone jack. One of these has Thunderbolt so adapters sold separately can be plugged in to add Ethernet and HDMI ports while the other is best used for charging the Yoga 720.
Any writing accessory?
The optional Lenovo Active Pen 2 is here to save the day. It features high accuracy and palm- rejection technology to emulate the regular pen-on-paper writing experience. Fully compatible with Windows Ink, users can instantly reformat notes or send them to other devices.
