Steady on now, we’re not that kind of mag­a­zine. Any­way, the Spar­tan Trainer Wrist HR is the suc­ces­sor to the Su­unto Spar­tan Sport Wrist HR and fea­tures the same high-per­form­ing heart-rate mon­i­tor­ing tech (cour­tesy of Va­len­cell), mea­sur­ing blood flow at the wrist.

Can I use it for run­ning and swim­ming?

The Su­unto Trainer Wrist HR is ca­pa­ble of track­ing 80 dif­fer­ent sports, in­clud­ing run­ning, swim­ming and cy­cling, and uses GPS to track speed, dis­tance cov­ered, pace and the al­ti­tude of what­ever trail you’re run­ning or cy­cling. The watch uses a range of sen­sors to track all the usu­als – calo­ries burned, steps taken, etc – and will dis­play in­com­ing calls, texts and other no­ti­fi­ca­tions on its back­lit, colour dis­play.

What about bat­tery life?

Up to 10 hours with GPS on, but use it in power-sav­ing mode and bat­tery life stretches to 30 hours. Dis­able all smart track­ing and Sun­nto reck­ons the bat­tery will last 14 days.

Yes, the Su­unto Spar­tan Trainer Wrist HR is avail­able now in Ocean, Blue and Black. Lim­ited edi­tion Gold and Steel ver­sions will land soon.
