SANCHITA KHURANA

Tehelka - - DEATH AND DISEASE - KHURANA

The Raqs Media Collective, a Delhi-based trio comprising new-media artists Monica Narula, Jeebesh Bagchi and Shuddhabrata Sengupta, represents a unique flavour of interdisciplinarity. Looking to initiate new ways of engaging with urban culture and ‘realities’, their works provoke questions about capitalism, migrant settlements, urban design and other (‘marginal’) issues of urbanity. They create, curate and comment, bringing together, in new but meaningful ways, art practice, theory and research. It is this plurality of roles across a wide range of domains that makes their collective a pioneer in the contemporary art scene in India.
