Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring is a 2003 South Korean film directed by Kim Ki-duk. Set in a monastery floating on a lake, it chronicles the life of a Buddhist monk from childhood to old age. The film works because of the contemplative mystic atmosphere and the captivating visuals. It explores shades of anger, sorrow, joy and pleasure, and preaches the Buddhist philosophy of The Middle Path. The film is a spiritual journey of how to live a content life.
