The Lady Linking India and the East

Tehelka - - 20 - JACOB SAHAYAM,

Aung San Suu Kyi’s visit to India is a matter of joy and pride. The world is awed by her courage, perseverance and ability to inspire people. Even though her party won a landslide victory in the by-elections, the military may not be prepared to give up power. So India should extend full support to democracy in Myanmar.

Good stuff with the story Bertil.

PHILIP BADER, ON FACEBOOK Refer to ‘The Kyi to the Great Game East’ by Bertil Lintner, 24 November. Spine-chilling revelations! There might be a day when there is an uprising and many of these crooks are lynched or put under the guillotine, like in the French Revolution. Though it brings an air of gloom, the past 18 months have seen many politicians and CEOs go to jail, which is the beginning of a new chapter. The younger generation will no longer be silenced. Aer reading your article, I’ve realised we are not really a poor country; we’ve been impoverished by corruption, and therefore have to make do with less facilities.
