Satha­si­vam to be Ker­ala gov

New Delhi: Pres­i­dent Pranab Mukher­jee is set to ap­point ex- Chief Jus­tice of In­dia P. Satha­si­vam as the gov­er­nor of Ker­ala Tues­day. PM Naren­dra Modi has cleared Mr Satha­si­vam’s name for the gu­ber­na­to­rial charge.

Pres­i­dent Pranab Mukher­jee is all set to ap­point for­mer Chief Jus­tice of In­dia P. Satha­si­vam as the gov­er­nor of Ker­ala on Tues­day. Top sources said Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi has cleared Jus­tice Satha­si­vam’s name for the gu­ber­na­to­rial charge be­fore em­bark­ing of his visit to Ja­pan.

The file is now pend­ing with the Pres­i­dent, who is ex­pected to make the ap­point­ment any­time soon. MHA sources said Mr Mukher­jee is likely to clear Mr Satha­si­vam’s file on Tues­day when he re­turns from his two- day visit to Jammu.

Mr Satha­si­vam will be­come the first gov­er­nor ap­pointed by the Modi gov­ern­ment who is not a politi­cian nor a BJP leader. So far, only veteran BJP lead­ers hav­ing close as­so­ci­a­tion with the RSS have been ap­pointed gover­nors by the new gov­ern­ment.
