Manpreet is Asia’s Jr Player of Year
New Delhi: Midfielder Manpreet Singh was on Monday named the Junior
Player of the Year by the Asian Hockey Federation in its Congress held in Kuala
Lumpur. The 22- year- old Manpreet captained India at the Junior World Cup at home last year, and has played 103 international matches so far. He also skip
pered the team in the 3rd Sultan of Johor Cup in 2013,
where India clinched the title. India defeated Malaysia
3- 0 in the final, while they got past England, Argentina, Pakistan and South Korea in
the group stage. Manpreet made his interna
tional debut in 2011 and since then, has been a regular member of the senior
national team.
