WHY SATHASIVAM AS KERALA GOV, ASKS CONG

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Congress on Tuesday asked the BJP to explain why it was in a hurry to appoint former Chief Justice of India P. Sathasivam as Kerala governor, wondering whether he is being “honoured” for his earlier judgement that gave relief to the now BJP President Amit Shah in a fake encounter case.

Party spokesperson and former commerce minister Anand Sharma sought to know whether Mr Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pleased with Justice Sathasivam. “Why was he made? This raises a question if he has done some work, for which they are pleased. Prime Minister Modi is pleased, Amit Shah is pleased and that is why he is being honoured?” Mr Sharma asked at regular Congress briefing.

“Because an exception is being made, and the question is about why, is there anything in his persona, functioning or his decisions, which has really attracted very warmly the acceptance of Prime Minister and BJP president?”
