A 38- year- old man was found dead under mysterious circumstan­ces in his house in southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Wednesday, police said.

According to a senior police official, the deceased has been identified as Puran, an auto driver. Puran’s family lives in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai.

On Tuesday night, Puran was supposed to go to Neb Sarai at night but didn’t reach there for a long time. “Puran’s family members thought that he might have had a lot of passengers to drop and that could be the reason for him being late, but when he did not return late in the night as well, some members of his family went to check on him at his Sangam Vihar house,” said the police official.

After reaching his Sangam Vihar house, Puran’s family members saw that the door was locked from outside but they grew suspicious and broke open the lock. When they went inside the room, they found Puran lying unconsciou­s and bleeding from his head. “Immediatel­y, other family members in Neb Sarai were informed and Puran was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors upon arrival,” the official said.

Puran’s family members went to the Neb Sarai police station to lodge a complaint and alleged that Puran was murdered. “Puran had a fight with someone a few days back. He was murdered and there can be no Ghaziabad, July 14: A 21year- old man was severely injured when he was allegedly shot by a policeman outside whose house he was drinking liquor. Shashank, a Delhi University student, and his two friends were drinking alcohol in a car parked outside the residence of subinspect­or Sanjay Bhardwaj, posted in Saharanpur, senior superinten­dent of police K. S. Emmanuel said.

Bhardwaj objected to their drinking and an argument ensued, following which he went inside his house, came out with a gun and fired at them. The bullet hit Shashank in the back. His friends immediatel­y rushed him to a nearby hospital where he is in a critical condition.

The police has taken up the issue with Saharanpur SSP and demanded department­al action against the sub- inspector. Bhardwaj has not been arrested yet, Emmanuel said. other reason behind his death,” alleged Puran’s mother.

The police has registered a case under relevant sections of IPC.

“We have sent the body for post- mortem and are waiting for the report to ascertain the exact cause of death. Further investigat­ion in the matter is on,” said the police official.
