-

Jammu and Kashmir police authorities have flashed a security message to its men across the restive Kashmir, asking them to take extra caution to avoid falling prey to militant attacks.

The message is sent through various police stations and posts in the wake of the killing of a cop by unidentified gunmen in southern Pulwama district early Saturday.

Sources said that its personnel, particularly those posted in thanas, have been told not to venture out alone and unarmed, or unless they are escorted by armed colleagues while investigating cases.

A ‘ selection- grade’ constable was shot dead outside his home at Quil deep inside Pulwama at 6.15am on Saturday. The slain cop, Khurshid Ahmd Ganai, was on a visit to his home after staying at the Pulwama’s Police Lines for two months.
