A rape victim was attacked with acid on Tuesday after she lodged a complaint against two men for raping her.

The incident took place in Bulandshahar district and the victim claimed that she was raped earlier but when she lodged the complaint against the two accused men, they attacked her and her husband.

“They tied my husband to a tree and threw acid on me. They had raped me earlier and when I complained, they started troubling us,” she said.

The 30- year old victim is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital for burn injuries on her face and neck.

Bulandshahar superintendent of police Man Singh Chauhan said that the police has registered a complaint against the accused rapists and ensured full protection to the victim.

He said that an investigation related to the complaint was already underway.

The victim’s husband said that the attack took place in the City Kotwali Police station area after he and his wife had refused to withdraw the case of rape filed against the attackers.
