AFTER GRAFT PROBE, COP SEEKS PM AID

-

Guwahati: An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who has served in the vigilance and anti-corruption cell of Assam police has sought protection from a section of officers against whom he conducted a probe. R. Chandranathan, a 1986 batch IPS officer, served as additional director general of police (ADGP) of the vigilance and anti-corruption cell between 2012 and 2016. “Some false criminal cases have been filed in Silchar police station last month in a matter sub-juidice against me and some of my officers and staff by a senior police officer against whom few vigilance enquiries were conducted during my tenure as ADGP of vigilance and anti-corruption,” said Mr Chandranathan, who is now posted as ADGP of the communication cell of Assam police. “I am confident... I will get support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal who are protagonists of zero tolerance against corruption and smart policing,” he said.
