The Democrats have won back the House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the rul­ing Repub­li­can party, af­ter eight years in the mi­nor­ity. Break­ing the Grand Old Party’s monopoly on power in Wash­ing­ton and set­ting the stage for a mul­ti­tude of in­ves­ti­ga­tions of Pres­i­dent Donald Trump that could en­gulf his ad­min­is­tra­tion over the next two years. The Democrats now have ma­jor­ity in the 435- mem­ber House, while Trump’s party has re­tained ma­jor­ity in the 100mem­ber Se­nate. The new House would come into be­ing next Jan­uary. A record num­ber of close to 100 women, ma­jor­ity of them be­ing Democrats, won seats in the House, a mas­sive vic­tory for fe­male can­di­dates across the po­lit­i­cal spec­trum. Trump, who cam­paigned ag­gres­sively in the last sev­eral weeks, Wed­nes­day of­fered an olive branch to Democrats.
