BJP MP Gambhir donates `1cr to Ram Temple trust
Cricketer-turned-politician and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has donated `1 crore for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The East Delhi MP said the donation was made by him and his family for the construction of a “glorious” temple in the holy town.
Mr Gambhir handed a cheque of `1 crore to Swami Avdheshanand in the national capital. He said that a glorious Ram temple has been the dream of all Indians and finally this long standing issue has been put to rest.
“This will pave the way for unity and tranquillity in our country. Construction of a beautiful Ram temple will also provide an impetus to tourism in Ayodhya and surrounding areas which will lead to a growth in employment opportunities. “I wholeheartedly thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose leadership and vision turned this dream into reality,” Mr Gambhir added.
The Delhi BJP has launched a campaign for the collection of donations through coupons across the city. The key responsibility to oversee the donation campaign in the city has been given to Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Chahal. “Coupons of `10; `100; and `1,000 will be used for the collection of donations from as many households as possible. No cash is allowed to be taken from any person,” he said.
