BARC In­dia

Broad­cast Au­di­ence Re­search Coun­cil (BARC), the TV view­er­ship mea­sure­ment provider in In­dia, has roped in Ro­hit Sarma as the busi­ness head for its TV busi­ness and Ku­mar Rao as the chief of mea­sure­ment sci­ence. Both of them will be based out of BARC In­dia’s Mum­bai of­fice.

Sarma has spent over 20 years in the FMCG and Me­dia sec­tors across In­dia and South Asia with com­pa­nies such as ITC, Di­a­geo, Turner and HT Me­dia. He has man­aged brands as well as run large busi­ness op­er­a­tions and will work closely with both Partho and Romil in his new role.

Hav­ing worked with Nielsen, GfK and Gallup Or­gan­i­sa­tion, Rao brings in 17 years of global work ex­pe­ri­ence in the space of re­search, an­a­lyt­ics, statis­tics and mea­sure­ment. He will be re­port­ing to Partho Das­gupta.

Maxus Global

R S Suriya­narayanan, who was busi­ness di­rec­tor at Ini­tia­tive, has joined Maxus Global as buy­ing head, ITC. While he was un­avail­able for com­ment, a se­nior of­fi­cial at the agency, close to the de­vel­op­ment, has con­firmed the news to afaqs! Re­porter. “He will be based in Ban­ga­lore and is ex­pected to join soon,” said the source, who pre­ferred not to be named. Ini­tia­tive is a busi­ness unit of In­ter­pub­lic Group (IPG).

Sony Pic­tures Net­works

Kedar Teny, for­mer di­rec­tor of mar­ket­ing and dig­i­tal, McDon­ald’s, has joined Sony Pic­tures Net­works In­dia’s (SPNI) sports clus­ter as se­nior vice pres­i­dent, mar­ket­ing and on-air-pro­mo­tions (OAP). He will re­port to Ra­jesh Kaul, pres­i­dent, dis­tri­bu­tion and sports busi­ness, and will be re­spon­si­ble for mar­ket­ing the chan­nels in the clus­ter, as well as for con­tent pro­mo­tion.
