UMI Ham­mer listed online at 10,999

UMI, a rel­a­tively un­known brand from China, that shot to promi­nence with its Zero smart­phone, has silently launched Ham­mer, a new phone that it claims is ' the strong­est phone ever built.' UMI Ham­mer is listed on e-com­merce mar­ket­place Flip­kart at 16,999. At the time of fil­ing this post, it was out of stock.

The page also fea­tures a video fea­tur­ing a 'vi­o­lence test' on the phone where it's sub­jected to tough con­di­tions and even splashed with wa­ter. The list­ing, how­ever, doesn't de­tail the ruggedised fea­tures. Ac­cord­ing to UMI the Ham­mer phone sports an avi­a­tion alu­minium al­loy frame with 4.3mm thick­ness and a soft poly­car­bon­ate back panel. The phone mea­sures 71.6x144x7.9mm.

The phone sports a 5-inch HD(1280x720p) IPS dis­play with Corn­ing Go­rilla Glass pro­tec­tion. It is pow­ered by a 1.5GHz 64-bit Me­di­aTek MT6732 quad-core pro­ces­sor and 2GB RAM, along with 16GB in­ter­nal stor­age and a mi­croSD card slot that sup­ports cards of up to 64GB. The phone comes with a 2250mAh re­mov­able bat­tery.

UMI Ham­mer runs An­droid v4.4 (KitKat), upgrad­able to An­droid 5.0 Lol­lipop. It sports a 13MP rear cam­era with dual-LED flash and a 3.2MP front cam­era. In terms of con­nec­tiv­ity, the dual-sim smart­phone sup­ports 4G (only FDD-LTE 1800Mhz band), 3G, Wi-Fi, Blue­tooth 4.0 and GPS. The phone comes in white and black vari­ants.
