Smart City project: Himachal Pradesh forms special purpose vehicle
To implement the Smart City project in Shimla, the state government has formed a special purpose vehicle (SPV) named as Shimla Smart City Limited. The divisional commissioner Shimla will be its chairman. The state cabinet in its meeting held on August 5 had given its approval for setting up of SPV. Shimla Smart City will have a robust advisory mechanism in shape of city advisory forum comprising of all stakeholders for rendering support to SPV at all stages of planning and implementation.
The cost of Smart City proposal of Shimla is nearly ` 2,906 crore. Out of total proposal, ` 1,252 crore was for re-development of lower bazar, sabzi mandi, Ganj and Krishnanagar, Rs 1,280 crore for retro-fitting of circular road and three transit corridors of the city, ` 197 crore for plan-city application of traffic man- Continued on page 2
