Smart City pro­ject: Hi­machal Pradesh forms spe­cial pur­pose ve­hi­cle


To im­ple­ment the Smart City pro­ject in Shimla, the state gov­ern­ment has formed a spe­cial pur­pose ve­hi­cle (SPV) named as Shimla Smart City Lim­ited. The di­vi­sional com­mis­sioner Shimla will be its chair­man. The state cab­i­net in its meet­ing held on Au­gust 5 had given its ap­proval for set­ting up of SPV. Shimla Smart City will have a ro­bust ad­vi­sory mech­a­nism in shape of city ad­vi­sory fo­rum com­pris­ing of all stake­hold­ers for ren­der­ing sup­port to SPV at all stages of plan­ning and im­ple­men­ta­tion.

The cost of Smart City pro­posal of Shimla is nearly ` 2,906 crore. Out of to­tal pro­posal, ` 1,252 crore was for re-de­vel­op­ment of lower bazar, sabzi mandi, Ganj and Kr­ish­nana­gar, Rs 1,280 crore for retro-fit­ting of cir­cu­lar road and three tran­sit cor­ri­dors of the city, ` 197 crore for plan-city ap­pli­ca­tion of traf­fic man- Con­tin­ued on page 2
