UK-headquartered Centroid Motion Capture, a firm that has worked in the upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiiyaan, has tied up with Chennaibased PixelKraft to launch its Indian arm, Centroid India. The motion capture technology firm will hold a 90% stake in the venture while the remaining will be with PixelKraft. Centroid, which refused to divulge the financial details of the deal, indicated that it would soon be setting up a studio in Chennai. The studio would be as big as AVM Studios or Prasad Studios, company officials said.

“In the first year, we (Centroid India) should be producing two films in Tamil which should give us a business in the range of .` 80-100 crore. Our focus would be more on producing mid-range budget films, in the range of .` 20-25 crore,” said Siddharth S Kumar, director, PixelKraft.

Kochadaiiyaan is the first Indian film that Centroid worked. “The Indian market looks exciting and challenging,” said Phil Stilgoe, operations director of Centroid Motion.
