Deutsche Bank Memo: Staff, Be­have Bet­ter

Memo to bankers: Be­have. A se­nior ex­ec­u­tive at Deutsche Bank has warned the staff that “be­ing boast­ful, in­dis­creet and vul­gar is not OK.” Colin Fan, head of mar­kets di­vi­sion, has re­port­edly made a video mes­sage to staff. He says that be­cause of the reg­u­la­tory scru­tiny banks are un­der, “all your com­mu­ni­ca­tions may be re­viewed. This in­cludes your emails, your con­ver­sa­tions and your con­duct.” He warns that boast­ful, in­dis­creet or vul­gar be­hav­iour “will have se­ri­ous con­se­quences for your ca­reer.” The bank said it was part of a pro­gramme to forge “a new cul­ture” at the bank.
