Touching Adieu to Dr Singh

The Economic Times - - The Edit Page - SRINIVASAN UMASHANKAR

The farewell accorded to the outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was touching. Dr Singh is an upright and a brilliant economist. He will be remembered as one of the best RBI governors and the best finance minister in the P V Narasimha Rao Cabinet in the early 1990s. Sadly, he won’t be remembered as the best Prime Minister for he did not perhaps get the required authority to do so. Just as Narasimha Rao had a special place in his heart for senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it is hoped that Modi would do well to utilise the services of Dr Singh to achieve excellence.
