Punjab Play Mumbai in Home Match
On a roll with nine victories ensuring qualification for the playoffs, the Kings XI Punjab would look to continue their winning momentum when they take on the Mumbai Indians in their first match at Mohali today. Punjab have steamrolled almost every side they have played and one more victory tomorrow in front of their home crowd will put them in a commanding position as the season heads to the knock-out phase. Punjab defeated the Delhi Daredevils on Monday, once again displaying that performances from the gifted Glenn Maxwell or David Miller is not a prerequisite for a Kings XI win, one of the reasons they’ve been able to establish themselves as the top team this season. Their previous best performance was reaching the semi-final stage in 2008. Young players Sandeep Sharma, Manan Vohra (batting) and Akshar Patel (bowling) have shown great maturity in pressure situations. The batting has also had great help from Virender Sehwag as an opener and captain George Bailey, both of whom have proven to be able performers.
