In­dia’s Old­est Test Player Mad­hav Mantri Dies

For­mer In­dia wick­et­keeper Mad­hav Mantri passed away on Fri­day at a pri­vate clinic. He was 92. Mantri, Sunil Gavaskar’s un­cle, fea­tured in four Tests for In­dia in the 1950s af­ter mak­ing his mark in the do­mes­tic cir­cuit for Bom­bay. He led Bom­bay to three Ranji ti­tles. Mantri also served in the Board of Con­trol for Cricket in In­dia (BCCI) as a team man­ager and se­lec­tor.
