Mistry Urges Staff to ‘Unleash Full Potential’ of TaMo
Mumbai: Chairman Cyrus Mistry on Friday exhorted the employees of Tata Motors to “unleash the full potential” of the company, and take advantage of the current favourable macroeconomic environment to bring a turnaround at the vehicle maker.
Delivering the customary chairman’s address to employees from the Lakehouse in Pune on the first day of the new financial year, Mistry said he is seeing the confluence of many positive factors: a growth path for the industry, exciting products lined up by the company and improved quality perception and customer experience — all which Tata Motors can take advantage of.
“It will now depend on our preparedness and determination to leverage the situation to our advantage. Our manufacturing team will need to ensure that they don’t let a single vehicle sale get lost on account of production. On the other hand, our sales and marketing team needs to hit the competition hard," he said.
On the back of an improving economy, the automotive industry has registered double-digit growth, Mistry said, even as he expressed hope that the trend would continue in fiscal 2017. He is, however, concerned about the “low capacity utilisation” and “aggressive discounting” in the marketplace. He sees a strong revival in demand for trucks, which favours Tata Motors, the nation’s top commercial vehicle maker. He expects improving economic growth and employment outlook to drive passenger car growth.
While noting the improved quality and customer satisfaction index that the company achieved in the JD Power Quality study, Mistry said the benchmarks were changing fast and Tata Motors was still far from being among the top rankers in the industry.
