VW Recalls 3,877 Vento Diesel Cars
Mumbai: Volkswagen India has recalled 3,877 Vento sedans over inconsistent carbon monoxide emissions on some manual versions. It has also decided to temporarily halt sales of manualtransmission, 1.5-litre diesel Vento sedans with immediate effect. The recall in India is not connected to 11 million vehicles affected globally by the controversy over nitro- gen oxide emissions. Some Ventos with manual gearboxes occasionally exceeded limits during tests by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the company said in a release. Volkswagen India is analysing the matter and will propose technical measures to ARAI to resolve the inconsistency at the earliest, it said.
Group unit Skoda has halted sales of its Rapid model, which is similar to the Vento, but hasn’t announced any recalls. “The issue in concern does not affect the Skoda Rapid,” a company spokesperson said.
