Ben­gal Records 81%, As­sam 78% in Phase-1 Polls

VOTER TURNOUT (%) booths even af­ter clos­ing time. In the re­main­ing five seats, polling con­tin­ued till 6 pm. Vot­ing was held in 4,945 polling sta­tions in Ben­gal, 1,962 of which were clas­si­fied ‘crit­i­cal’ by the EC. Voter Ver­i­fi­ableAu­ditTrailssys­temwa­sused in 562 polling sta­tions. Polling will be held in 31 seats in sec­ond part of the first phase to be held on April 11.

In As­sam, the polling per­cent­age in 65 assem­bly con­stituen­cies in the first phase was closer to the 2014 LS fig­ure of 80.16%. In 2011 assem­bly polls, the per­cent­age was 76.03. Titab­o­rassem­bl­y­seatwhereCMTarun Go­goi is a con­tes­tant, 78% vot­ers turnedup,whileinMa­juli,whereBJP’s CM can­di­date Sar­bananda Sonowal is con­test­ing, it was 80%.
