It’s Not Just A Game for Some: Taunts, Clashes & Slo­ga­neer­ing

It all be­gan af­ter lo­cal stu­dents cel­e­brated In­dia’s loss against West Indies in the T20 cricket world cup on March 31. This ag­i­tated out­sta­tion stu­dents, who al­legedly used to taunt lo­cals when In­dia won matches. They held a march next day, hold­ing the Tri­colour and rais­ing ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slo­gans. It led to mi­nor clashes be­tween two groups. Since the clashes, num­ber of out­sta­tion stu­dents at­tend­ing classes de­creased. They de­manded post­pon­ing of exams sched­uled for April 11 and shift­ing of cam­pus from Sri­na­gar.
