Nabard Set to Raise .₹ 50,000 crore in FY17

Agri and ru­ral lender Nabard is set to raise .₹ 50,000 crore from the mar­kets in FY17, about 31% higher than what it raised in the pre­vi­ous years. The in­sti­tu­tion man­dated to fo­cus on agri­cul­ture and ru­ral devel­op­ment will fo­cus on ir­ri­ga­tion be­sides pro­vid­ing in­puts to the gov­ern­ment on in­creas­ing fi­nan­cial in­clu­sion in the econ­omy. An­nounc­ing its an­nual fi­nan­cial per­for­mance for FY’16, Nabard chair­man Harsh Ku­mar Bhan­wala said that the agri lender would be fo­cus­ing on ir­ri­ga­tion this year. “Our fo­cus area is go­ing to be ir­ri­ga­tion. We are closely in­ter­act­ing with the gov­ern­ment of In­dia ” said Bhan­wala.
