Group M’s me­dia buy­ing agency Mind­share In­dia bagged the max­i­mum num­ber of awards at Me­dia Abby 2016 re­ceiv­ing 17 awards on the first day of the GoaFest. None of the agen­cies, how­ever, got the Grand Prix this year. Maxus fol­lowed the pole po­si­tion af­ter bag­ging seven met­als. The third po­si­tion was shared by Lodestar and Madi­son Me­dia with six met­als each. Abby awards cer­e­mony is part of Goafest, or­ga­nized by the Ad­ver­tis­ing Club of Bom­bay and Ad­ver­tis­ing Agen­cies As­so­ci­a­tion of In­dia (AAAI). Mind­share In­dia and The So­cial Street also won two Gold Award, the high­est so far this year. The So­cial Street also bagged a to­tal of four met­als – two Gold and two Sil­ver, shar­ing the po­si­tion with two other agen­cies – ibs and Ini­tia­tive Me­dia. —


This year’s award has two new cat­e­gories un­der the Spe­cial cat­e­gory of Awards – for gen­der sen­si­tiv­ity and Young Abby for pro­fes­sion­als un­der 30 years of age. The win­ner of the Young Abby will be sent to Cannes for more in­ter­na­tional ex­po­sure. A to­tal of 300 com­pa­nies and 2500 del­e­gates are par­tic­i­pat­ing.

“The process of awards, start­ing from up­load­ing ap­pli­ca­tions and art work to vot­ing, ev­ery­thing has gone on­line this year. So there are no truck-loads of art work reach­ing the jury any more,” Narayan added. “The in­tent is to im­prove from the learn­ing’s of the pre­vi­ous year,” said Nayak.
